Description

{1} Archaeological excavation at Crick Hotel (DIRFT East)took place in 1998. This site forms part of the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal development near Crick, Northamptonshire. Iron Age settlement originated in the 6th or 5th century BC and probably continued into the 1st century BC. {4} In 1998 Foundations Archaeology was commissioned by Premier Hotels pic and the Cuckfield Property Company (Crick) Ltd to excavate an area of land in advance of development at the Crick, Northamptonshire. The archaeological excavation followed a programme of field evaluation undertaken by RPS Clouston and a geophysical survey undertaken by Stratascan. These earlier stages of fieldwork revealed significant archaeological deposits and an archaeological excavation was subsequently undertaken.
