Abstract/Summary
The following report summarises the results of an archaeological excavation at Covert Farm (DIRFT East) between August 1997 and June 1998. This site forms part of the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal development near Crick, Northamptonshire. The Covert Farm site includes a large part of an extensive Iron Age settlement. The main focus of iron age settlement covers 16 hectares, of which 13 lie within the Covert Farm site. An archaeological evaluation of Covert Farm indicated that part of the settlement (7 hectares) was preserved beneath alluvium while other areas (6 hectares) have been truncated by later ploughing.
