{1} Three trenches were excavated in order to sample the deposits of two features identified as possible palaeochannels during previous evaluation. This phase of investigation determined that the features were natural depressions infilled by alluviation and possible periglacial loess. One dated to the Neolithic or later, whilst the other contained Upper Palaeolithic flint tools.
