Description

The evaluation comprised the excavation of eleven trenches, two of which were targeting geophysical anomalies. The only identified archaeological features in eleven excavated trenches were an undated ditch and gully in Trench 7; the latter most likely a land drain. The ditch most likely relates to a modern 20th century boundary which was then filled in with the construction of modern housing along Rugby Road. Land drains were also present in Trenches 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 11. A tree throw was present in Trench 3. The anomalies targeted by Trenches 7 and 11 were not observed and were thought more likely to relate to paths across the fields. No artefacts were recovered during the investigation. Information from OASIS Online Form.
