Description

{1} Archaeological watching brief undertaken during development. The demolition phase of the work was monitored including grubbing out of some foundations, but no archaeology was recorded. After demolition, the majority of the site was covered with about 1m deep layer of rubble forming a supportive mat for the piling equipment. Most of the smaller services and foundations were dug into this layer. The deepest groundwork was done in the SW corner of the Site – a soakaway ditch with an associated manhole which was dug to depth of about 3m. A sequence of archaeological remains was recorded within this trench.
