Description

Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd undertook an archaeological evaluation at the Red Lion pub, Fosters Booth, Northamptonshire between 4th and 5th of April 2020. The work was commissioned by PR Architecture in advance of a planning application for the construction 3 houses, an entrance canopy and a rear car park (Planning Ref: S/2018/0613/FUL). Evidence for post-medieval activity (ditches and pits) were uncovered to the east of the pub, and an undated ditch to the north of the pub. The post-medieval activity dates to the 16th / 17th century and included a number of drinking vessels suggesting the presence of an earlier pub on or close to the site. [Inf from Oasis]
