Description
Site code: BLN19 {1} Nine trial trenches were excavated, all of which measured 25m by 1.80m except for Trenches 3 and 4 which measured 10m by 1.80m and 15m by 1.80m, respectively. The trenches were positioned to target potential archaeological anomalies identified during the previous geophysical survey, as well as to provide a wide sample across the remaining areas of the study site. An additional four trenches (a, b, c and d) were excavated later in the project to ascertain the extent of features identified in the initial trenches. Ditches of a Romano-British enclosure dating to the 1st and 2nd centuries AD were identified.
