Description
Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation and programme of archeological observation during groundworks associated with residential development on land to the rear of 57 High Street. A single pit or possible well of late Saxon/early post-Conquest date was identified in Trench 1. A small assemblage of 9th-1tth century pottery was found. The lack of in situ topsoil and subsoil deposits on site indicates that there has been substantial truncation and a low probability for the survival of more ephemeral features.
