Description

{1} Trial trench evaluation comprising 182 trenches undertaken as part of planning proposals for a solar farm. 25 trenches contained archaeology; 157 trenches proved to be blank. {2} An archaeological evaluation of the site in advance of a planning application for the development of a solar farm. Archaeological remains dating to the later middle Iron Age period were recorded in fifteen trenches spread across five fields. They represent the remains of a dispersed settlement pattern and are part of a wider Iron Age landscape in the area. Medieval ridge and furrow were found in the majority of trenches across the development area. It was poorly preserved where the depth of the furrows investigated did not exceed 0.10m. Site code: YELL20
