Description

{1} A magnetometry survey was undertaken on land to the east of the villa in order to ascertain whether it could provide conclusive evidence for a Roman military camp that was believed to be present, based on crop-marks in the northern part of the field, and finds made in the villa excavation. The survey failed to find any features matching those recorded on aerial photographs, but identified a series of enclosures and probable quarries.
