Description
The geophysical survey consisted of a detailed gradiometer survey of the area to be affected by the proposed development, totalling approximately 2.6 hectares. The survey has identified a number of features of potential archaeological interest. The parallel linear positive anomalies that dominate the survey results related to the ridge and furrow cultivation clearly visible within the field. The survey also identified linear anomalies that could represent more recent cultivation trends on a different alignment, but these may relate to field drainage. A sub-square anomaly roughly 5 – 6 metres in diameter was clearly seen in the geophysical results, and this could potentially relate to an undated former structure. [No illustrations with report].
