Description

Magnetometer and earth resistance surveys were undertaken on the site of John O'Gaunt's Castle, possibly a medieval moated lodge rather than a castle. The survey results confirmed that the site had been heavily disturbed by 19th-century quarrying. No archaeological features were detected and, given the extent of the modern disturbance, the archaeological potential of the site appears to be very limited.
