Description

Four trial trenches were excavated and three contained a total of seven archaeological features. A curvilinear ditch yielding three sherds of Roman greyware pottery may relate to the cropmarks in the field to the south of the site. The remaining six undated features included two intercutting pits, three ditches and one gully. Neither of the two intercutting pits were wholly exposed due to the positioning of the trench. However, one of them incorporated a dense charcoal deposit. The three ditches and one gully were found in the southern part of the site closest to the cropmark complex although on a different alignment.
