Description

Phoenix Archaeology Consulting Ltd commissioned Allen Archaeology Limited to undertake a geophysical survey using magnetometry on land at Area C, Bozeat Quarry, Bozeat, Northamptonshire, prior to the submission of a planning application for a quarry extension. The survey has revealed little of archaeological interest, with the only archaeological features identified being potential ridge and furrow cultivation and possible areas of former quarrying of an unknown date. The survey has also revealed modern land drains and areas of magnetic noise likely caused by buried modern material. The set-aside along the western part of the site was too overgrown to allow surveying, and it is possible that there are archaeological features within that area.
