Description

MOLA excavated a total of three test pits to quantify the burials within the disused burial ground at the north of the site. The burial ground examined in TP1 has the potential to yield results of regional significance. Six of the seven burials encountered in TP1 were preserved in situ, one was excavated. It is likely that the burial ground has around 1500 burials within it. An archaeological horizon dating to the 12th-14th century was identified within TP1 and TP2.
