Description

Documentary and cartographic research for the project confirmed the dating previously proposed for the building of the two cottages. The earliest estate maps studied for the project indicate that an earlier structure stood on the site. The recording found that the structure was well preserved with the layout largely intact apart from a lean to extension which had been added to the rear of the building. All of the original windows have been replaced but some of the doors and associated fittings were probably original. Two dilapidated stone structures and a shed to the rear of the building appear to have been recorded on some of the early maps referenced for the study. They may have functioned as pig styes.
