Description

Fieldwalking survey identified a 'mighty site', middle Iron Age in date. 266 body sherds, handmade, very shelly, most black, but some with brown, a few flat bases and devolved carination near rim (in 2 bags a few burnished and little veg temper. Plus loomweight (ceramic), 2 & 5 likely pieces, one quern, from SP 5418 3786, in a dense sandstone schist, pink or burnt and one SP 5412 3782 in white magnesian limestone
