Description

{1} In 1985-6 an intermittent archaeological watching brief was carried out in part of Stanwick Quarry during the removal of topsoil and again after the removal of alluvium onto the underlying gravels. In both cases the overburden was removed by box scraper which tended to smear the surface. Due to the speed of operation the archaeological observations were opportunistic with limited excavation and only basic recording.
