Description
{2} While landscaping the rear garden of 1 Club Lane, an oval pit was revealed cut into the limestone bedrock. Topsoil had been removed prior to terracing and the removal of an apple which had been growing in the centre of the pit. Since part of the pit would removed by the terracing and apple tree roots, a rescue excavation was conducted. No other features were revealed when a large area of the garden was stripped. Pottery from the pit formed a fairly closely dated group of around the mid-12th century.
