Description

{1} In 1974 two trenches were cut by machine and finished off by hand to the north of St George's Street to locate the Medieval defences. No trace of bank, wall or ditch was located in Trench A and the defences presumably ran to the south of this point but trench B contained a small ditch c4m wide x 2m deep. No dating evidence was recovered.
