Description
Watching brief on two East Midland Electricity cable trenches. The trenches were already opened across the park on inspection and were 0.8m wide and 0.8-1.0m deep. Trench 1, c210m long, was aligned north-west to south-east south of the footpath. Trench 2 was shorter and followed an earlier EME service trench. Northampton Sand was observed across much of the base of Tr 1, with a former plough (?) soil overlying it. Four possible features were observed including a possible 15th-17th century pit, undated ditch, a Victorian/Edwardian dump and a possible undated feature (undetermined function).
