Description

{1} Development at the Abbey Works site in 1970 uncovered human bone and a decorated stone coffin. Also found were some sherds of Roman pottery. The coffin lid was laid in the lawn in front of the office block. {2} R Moore found skeletons and pottery on site at SP 737607 in July 1970. Pottery included 10 sherds of first and second century wares. There were two skeletons and a limestone coffin lid decorated with a cross.
