Full Description
{1} Bronze coin of Magentius found in the garden of 216 Weedon Road.
{2} Finds from the period of ironstone quarrying include over 1000 coins and 3rd century counterfeit coin moulds, a silver brooch, a bronze bust of Lucius Verus and a collection of pewter as well as a large quantity of more mundane bronze and iron-work and pottery.
{3} Finds made from 1860-70 during quarrying; the area was owned by Lord Cowper; many Roman finds were made including Samian and Castor ware pottery sherds, tiles, iron, lead and bronze objects; over 1000 coins were also found ranging from Claudius to Honorius; also 4 or 5 'British' coins of Tasciovanus and Cunobelinus and Andoco; 10 pieces of pewter including 6 large dishes, a two-handled bowl and a pateras (5.5 inches in diameter); also a bronze bucket mount, a enamelled sealbox and a bronze bust of Lucius Verus.
{4} Area SP 730607; 2 photos of Roman and Belgic pottery vessels from Duston in 1871 and ealier; finds then in possesion of Earl Cowper.
{7} Roman brooch and pottery from the Aero Controls Factory. Reported in the Chronicle and Echo 7/4/56
