Description
{1} Observations were maintained during the installation of a new water main across the market place & adjoining streets. Report only covers section of pipeline in Market Place and south towards Mill Lane. {3} The supply installation of polyurethane pipes, 125mm and 180mm in diameter, was laid in a single trench, 1m deep and 300mm wide, which was mechanically excavated by the site contractor. In all areas, the cutting penetrated the underlying natural limestone. The trench running from the market place to Mill Lane cut through a group of four small pits from which Iron Age pottery was recovered.
