Description

{1} An earthwork survey and trial excavation was carried out in advance of a sewerage replacement scheme. Several ditches and related features indicated dense occupation of the area in the C12th-C14th. A single ditch was of a late Saxon date. A modern service trench, probably the existing sewage pipe, cut through the subsoil and occupied the entire northern end of trench 2.
