Description

Excavation undertaken to investigate a Roman bath house, with a proposed occupation date of mid 3rd to mid 4th century. A ditch, closely associated with the bath house, was being excavated when an early 4th century Christian font/tank, highly decorated and showing a Chi Ro symbol, was recovered. It is being conserved at Leicester University and will eventually be displayed at Kettering Museum. Excavation continues. {4} No excavation took place in 2001 because of Foot & Mouth. {5} Area of excavation possibly more accurately mapped up to 2007 on geophysics survey output.
