Description

{1} Excavation undertaken in response to the proposed development of an area of 0.54ha for the construction of light factory units. The earliest evidence was for late Iron Age occupation comprising shallow ditches, gullies and pits. Thereafter there was no settlement until the medieval period. A row of six tenements was defined to the south of Castle Lane. None was excavated in its entirety, but each of the tenements was recorded on the frontage with the lane.
