Description

Site approximately 50 yds SW of A5 cross roads. Road widening in 1965 produced masses of Roman pottery including Samian, colour coated and coarse wares from the first to the third century. Also glass and shell. Pits were seen in a service trench, also a V-shaped ditch parallel to Watling Street and containing first century pottery in the primary silt. A N-S trial trench produced an almost unbroken second century ring necked flagon.
