Full Description
{1} Road widening in 1965 produced masses of Roman pottery including Samian, colour coated and coarse wares from the first to the third century. Also glass and shell. Pits were seen in a service trench, also a V-shaped ditch parallel to Watling Street and containing first century pottery in the primary silt. A north south trial trench produced an almost unbroken 2nd century ring necked flagon.
