Description

{1} It would appear that the present road is constructed over the filled-in medieval defensive ditch. The south lip of the ditch was identified just 5.3m within Beckett's Park, at a depth of 1.4m. The ditch fill was buried beneath a layer of 19th-century rubbish. Site also examined by Giggins & Moore; see 7560419;
