Full Description
{1} The present road was constructed during the C19th over the in-filled medieval defensive ditch; the south lip of the ditch was identified only 5.3m within Beckett's Park at a depth of 1.4m. Clay layers were visible in section dipping northwards. The uppermost fill produced a c.C18th clay pipe stem. A few medieval sherds came from lower layers.
