Description

{1} Skeletal human remains were discovered by workmen during repairs to a partially collapsed Victorian culvert on October 5th 1992. Archaeological slavage recording was undertaken, although intial bone recovery was undertaken by the workmen and police. At least three and possibly up to five skeletons were recorded. At least some were articulated, no grave cuts were observed, but a previously unknown burial ground, at least 100 years old, is suspected. The burials lay between 1.4m and 1.75m below ground level in a dark grey brown silty clay with ironstone rubble fill.
