ENN8346 - A45, Weston Favell, 1973 (Observation)

{1} Probable Iron Age features observed in a cable trench {2} An electricity cable trench to a new substation cut eight ditch or pit features. Pottery from the features was prehistoric, possibly Iron Age. The cable trench was aligned east-west and parallel to and north of a sewer and water-ipe trench. A further feature was observed in the sewer trench, but not recorded. Features were located relative to the substation access road east of the site and sketch sections and brief descriptions recorded. [reverse of card notes that the trench was reopened in May 1975 and the pipe concreted over. Two flints were found at the west end of the field, near road to the Boat Club. Hard core was laid after stripping top few inches of soil in the north-west corner of the field, but no features were seen- G E Oakley]
