Description
{1} Site levelling by machine just south of Blackthorn Road. A small number of features, probably dating to the Iron Age, were observed, although grading had removed archaeological levels. {3} Bottom of ditch and adjacent dark soil patches found by MD Card after scraping. These showed up clearly in creamy/brown sand. Sherds from one pot in hollow. Limited excavation of an area 3mx4m. Subsequent excavation of foundation trenches for Goldings flats, block G, did not reveal any definitive archaeological features although there were some dark pockets with irregular profiels.
