Full Description

{1} Workhouse. The workhouse stood to the north side of church on the site which is now occupied by the Vestry Hall. Rushden became part of the Wellingborough Poor Law Union in the 1830's. Subsequently, in 1875 the workhouse was demolished and Vestry Hall was constructed. Located on the corner of the graveyard of St Mary's Church.The building was used by Urban District Council prior to the erection of the Council Buildings on Newton Road. Building still standing and in use by the church as a Church Hall. Film?, Photo 19-20.
