Building record 7203/0/67 - Former Leather Warehouse, Skinner's Hill

Please read our .

Summary

This former leather warehouse, built in the 1890s, stands on the east side of Wellingborough Road at the point where it is also know as Skinner's Hill. It comprises a three-storey L- shaped range and a large single-storey range, which appears to be contemporary. There is a distinctive corner bay, the upper storeys of which form a circualr turret with a conical roof. It seems likley that this range functioned as combined office, storage and showroom space. The single storey range (to the north) appears to be contemporary, although it is signifiacantly plainer in character. There is a goods entrance with a blue brick suround to the south, which retains its wall mounted crane.
