Full Description

{1} In 1896 large factory employing 120 people was opened. All work was handsewn. By 1904 200 people employed and all working on machines. The factory was closed in 1980's and has since been demolished and a block of flats and a number of houses stand on the site. There is however a red brick house dated 1876 located opposite the factory site which may have been a forerunner to the site.
The extensive three-storey plus basement factory, formerly Adams Brothers, fronts both Gladstone Street and Spencer Street and has loading doors on both streets. There is a datestone of 1904 and separate entrances labelled 'Office' and 'Workmen'.
