Full Description

{1} Blisworth to Peterborough Line of the London and North-Western Railway. The railway line opened in June 1845 and passes close to the Thrapston on the western side. There is a principal station 'erected in the Elizabethan style, which stands in a very picturesque situation'. The station building has now been demolished, and the area is currently open with rubble etc. lying around.

{2} The L&NMR changed the eastern half of Crow Meadow into a built up area with the station and associated buildings. The new bridge over the Nene and its associated embankment were constructed across Chapel Meadow on the Islip side and Dam Meadow on the Thrapston side, but did not impinge upon the field boundaries. The margins of Thrapston had begun to be built up, including the addition of buildings into the plot north of the river. A twoing path was now shown on the north bank on the Thrapston side and the south bank on the Islip side.

{3} Thrapston Railway Station; post med; north of A604 & just east of river bridge; demolished by 1965; {1}Railway wagon turntable & water tank at north end of Thrapston Station; post med;
