Full Description

{1} Fire station, High Street. Small single bay, single storey building of stone construction on High Street. Two engravings on the building for 'Fire bell' and "Fire engine house 1887". The building remains in use.

{2} The 1887 Fire Engine House is a single storey stone building and has a slated ridged roof with the gable end-on to the High Street. This is surmounted by a small brick arch with the words 'Fire Bell' carved in stone - but no bell. Behind is a brick hose tower with louvred openings in the top storey, and a slated ridge roof. Adjoining the fire house on the north side is a modern extension.

{5} A fire engine house is marked on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map in 1884, but this was demolished in 1887 and replaced by the current building, located slightly to the south. The new building was constructed by Mr W Hawkins of Brackley.
