Monument record 7198/72 - Kettering Brick and Tile Company

{1} Brick and tile works, London Road
Brick and tile works on London Road (Kettering Brick and Tile Company est 1872 .?) - the buildings shown on maps have now gone, but much of the area remains open land. Some of the land displays earthworks / depressions - possibly from quarrying for clay. A modern building of 'Woodcroft Scout Centre' is located on part of the site.{2} The Kettering Brick and Tile Co. had a large works in London Road from at least 1877 to 1927. From 1905 thay had become the Kettering Brick and Tile Co (1905) Ltd. The yard was equipped with a 100' diameter Hoffman kiln as well as two smaller rectangular kilns probably for firing tiles. There was also a tramway leading in to the claypit.

{3} The Kettering Brick & Tile Company had a 100ft diameter Hoffman Kiln & 2 smaller rect kilns;
