Monument record 7898/4 - Ridge and furrow, Welford Recreation Ground

Cropmark traces of Medieval ridge and furrow mapped from air photographs.

{1} Welford Recreation Ground on Addington Road Housing Estate.

{2} Crop mark traces of ridge and furrow visible on aerial photographs, mapped as part of a survey carried out by the RCHME on behalf of Thames Valley Archaeological Services. The ridge and furrow is aligned WNW-ESE and can also be seen in the playing field to the south-west, which lies outside the area of this survey.
A 1:2,500 level 3 photogrammetric survey of an area of approximately 41 hectares, situated to the north-east of the town of Irthlingborough, was carried out by the RCHME Air Photography Unit between the 9th and 20th October 1995. A photogrammetric transcription of all archaeological features visible on available aerial photographs was carried out using the AERIAL 4.20 rectification system published by the University of Bradford. Copies of the resultant transcription, digital files and the accompanying report are held by the RCHME. (Collection UID: 1030386)
