Summary
This building stands on the north side of the Market Place. It was possibly a house or house and shop originally, but appears to have been adapted for manufacturing. A number of shoe manufacturers and makers are found in the 19th and 20th century directories with addresses in the Market Place. It was originally a two storey building of coursed ironstone construction. probably in the second half of the 19th century. It was raised to three storeys in brick. The second floor is well-lit by south facing windows. Large three-light first floor windows were inserted in the front elevation perhaps at the same time.
