Full Description

{1} Admiral Rodney, High Street. Still in use as a public house of the same name. Very large industrial structures to the rear of the building. The structure may have originated as an industrial building or may have had a subsidiary function, perhaps as a brewery.

{3} The building was constructed in 1841 and has served as a public house since that time. Very few original features survive due to extensive cosmetic alteration and upgrading of the building. The buildings attached to the rear of the Lord Rodney were used as a microbrewery, as mentioned in the 1851 census.
The back section of the property which has now been demolished orignally comprised a stable, barn/cart shed and washroom/laundry with a communal village meeting room above.
The building was rebuilt in 1900, prior to which it had a thatched roof.
