Full Description

{1} Between 1591 and 1737 there was apparently the creation of a new road around the south and east sides of the churchyard and parsonage. This has significantly altered and thus confused the form of what is likely to be the core of the late Saxon and early medieval settlement and of the medieval town, focussed around the manor/castle, church and market place.
