Full Description

In addition to the market cross there were a series of crosses in the town in 1587, positioned at the main road junctions and associated with small ponds. A cross in 1587 at the junction of High Street and Mill Lane must be the Myllane Crosse of 1527, but by 1721 the cross had gone and there was just Glovers pond. (1) (2)
