Full Description

{1} Station and attached viaduct, now office. 1874/75. Squared coursed and rusticated ironstone with granite dressings and slate roof. Station originally, booking office and waiting room. Single storey with basement. Entrance front of station of 2-window range of sash windows under stone lintels. Glazed door to left under wooden canopy. Hipped roof with overhanging eaves and bracketted cornice. Internal stone stack at rear. Elevation to right. Viaduct attached to right of 5 bays of segmental arche with plain parapets and iron railings. Brick underside to arches. Arch adjacent to station has flights of steps attached to either side giving access to the platforms. Interior of station has nothing of note.

{3} Opened in 1879 on the Midland Railway's Kettering to Manton line, the station building is a single storey. Unusually, it is of stone construction to a classical design more akin to the London and Birmingham Railway. Steps to the non-existent platforms from the road ascend either side of the viaduct. A foot tunnel half-way up connects the two. The station was closed in 1966 and has been used as offices.
