Summary

Built in the late 19th century as part of the Midland Railway to shorten the Nottingham and London route. The line was opened for goods traffic on 1st December 1879 and for passenger traffic on 1st March 1880. Closed for passenger services in 1967 but briefly reopened in the late 20th century. Subsequently, a passenger service has run between Corby and Kettering since 2009.
