Full Description

{1} Pre 18th century road remains, and earlier settlement remains. A road dating from the early 18th century appears to have been built partly overlapping the reduced remains of an earlier road of more substantial construction, on a slightly different alignment. Further clues as to the dating of the earlier road can be ascertained from associated ridge-and-furrow patterns. Various remains appear to have been overlain by this older road, and are by implication medieval or earlier, some possibly iron age.

{3} This linear earthwork, among others on similar orientations in the this area may indicate a Roman river crossing over the Brampton Nene here rather than further south.
