Full Description

{1} Public house, formerly cottage. Mid C18th with late C19th addition. Coursed limestone rubble, slate roof replacing thatch, brick end and ridge stacks. 2-unit through-passage plan. 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Central part-glazed 6-panel door with wood lintel. Old 3-light casement windows to ground and 1st floors, all with wood lintels. Stone-coped gable with kneelers to left. C19th 2-storey extension to left has central gabled porch, 3-light windows to ground floor with chamfered stone surround. Interior has chamfered spine beam and open fireplace with boxed bressumer. Formerly known as the Rose and Crown at least as far back as 1827.
