Full Description

{1} Farmhouse. C17, remodelled 1881 by E.F. Law. Coursed squared limestone with ironstone dressings, C20 plain-tile roofs, brick ridge and end stacks. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. 4-panel door to left of centre with wood lintel in C19 steep-gabled porch. 2-light leaded chamfered stone mullion windows to ground and first floor left of porch and to far right, otherwise similar 3-light windows to ground and first floors. Those to ground floor have hood moulds. 5 gabled roof dormers. Ironstone plinth with chamfered blue brick coping, ironstone quoins, band of blue brick just below eaves and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Forms a composition with Manor House gateway and No. 2 (q.v.).

{3} Undated photo, also photo dated 19.11.1993.

{4} The 'manor house' at Bugbrooke was built in 1849 on a very old site. The gateway, possibly moved here, is 17th century.

{5} The present building is 19th century, there are no identifiable remains of an earlier house and the gateway (authy {4} refs) is not in situ.
